Learning Management System (LMS)

Any class at Union may have online resources and tools associated with it, available through the university's learning management system (LMS).

This can range from a syllabus for a face-to-face course up to all resources needed for a course being taught entirely online. Resources and tools available in the LMS include discussion forums, messaging, chat, lessons, secure quizzes and tests, assignments, activities, course calendars, news forum for announcements, document sharing, web links, media (audio/video) sharing and more.

Union uses MoodleRooms for its LMS.

• Access MoodleRooms and many other services at portal.uu.edu . You can also log into MoodleRooms at online.uu.edu .
• To learn more about MoodleRooms, visit the Basic Use page where you will find helpful videos about login, setup, and use.

Students:

• Your professor will tell you if your course has any online resources and what your responsibilities are.
• You will have access to the course's resources beginning on the official start date for the course. Your access will end seven days after the official end date of the course.

Faculty:

• Resources are available to help you learn and use MoodleRooms. Contact Tabitha Washburn at twashburn@uu.edu or 731-661-6522 to find out how to learn more.
  • Learn about training including self-paced online, live webinar-based and face-to-face options.
  • MoodleRooms user manuals and tutorials are located at the bottom of each MoodleRooms page.
  • Tutorials for related tools can be found in the MoodleRooms course Faculty Moodlers Exchange. This includes information about Respondus LockDown Browser (test security), TurnItIn.com (anti-plagiarism), WebEx (web conferencing), Tegrity (lecture capture), how to embed audio/video media clips, etc.
• Use of this system is guided by the Online Course Policies and Practices document. (To view this information, you will log into Union's portal using uu\ followed by your account/user name, then your Union password.)
• You will have access to the course shell after you are assigned to the course by the registrar. This typically occurs well in advance of the start of the term.
• When talking to textbook publishers about online content, be sure to ask for content that works with "Moodle 2" or "MoodleRooms 2."
