JACKSON, Tenn. – June 7, 2006 – Union University will host an exhibit and a dessert reception for alumni and friends during the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting in Greensboro, N.C., June 12-14.
The dessert reception is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, at 8:30 p.m. in Imperial Ballrooms E-G of the Sheraton Four Seasons, 3121 High Point Road in Greensboro. The Sheraton Four Seasons is the official convention hotel and is located about 1.5 miles from the Greensboro Coliseum complex, which will host the meetings and exhibits.
During the reception, Union President David S. Dockery will present the M.E. Dodd Denominational Service Award to Morris H. Chapman, president and chief executive officer of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee.
The M.E. Dodd award is given annually to a leader within the Southern Baptist Convention who displays excellence and leadership in Southern Baptist life, as well as friendship and commitment to Union University. Past recipients include Jimmy Draper (2004) and the late Adrian Rogers (2005).
Union University also will host an exhibit at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, in the rear of the Special Events Center west wing, adjacent to the food area.
Complimentary dessert reception tickets, enrollment information and representatives from faculty and staff will be available at the exhibit from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, June 12, and Tuesday, June 13. Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14.
Due to inclement weather, all Union campuses will be closed on Friday, March 6, with all classes canceled.
The wellness center will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and the aquatic center will be open from 1-3 p.m.
Friday's Preview Day has been canceled.
Brewer Dining Hall will be open from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lex will be closed. No breakfast will be served.
