JACKSON, Tenn. – May 11, 2001– Union University has announced the schedule of events for this year's spring graduation.
Following graduation rehearsal at 10:30 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel, Union's Alumni Association will sponsor a luncheon for graduates Friday, May 18, at 11:30 a.m., in Coburn Dining Room. Reservations for the luncheon must be made by May 14 at noon.
A special recognition service will be held for all graduating seniors with a bachelor of science in nursing, Friday evening, May 18 in the chapel at 7 p.m. Diane Todd Pace will address the graduates in a lecture titled "Celebration in the Midst of Crisis."
A baccalaureate service will take place Saturday, May 19 at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Keynote speaker is Hayes Wicker, pastor of First Baptist Church in Naples, Fla. A reception for the graduates and their families will follow.
Graduation exercises conclude the week of activities, and will occur at 6 p.m. on the university's East lawn. Former member of the Nixon administration and Prison Fellowship founder Chuck Colson will address the graduates. In case of inclement weather, the commencement ceremony will be moved to Oman Arena.
