JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 23, 2007 – Union University will host the 16th annual Job Market consortium career fair March 1, with representatives from more than 40 corporations and agencies, including several Fortune 500 companies.

The event will be held in Union’s Coburn Dining Hall, located in the Barefoot Student Union Building, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

The event is a collaboration between Union, Freed-Hardeman University, Lane College, Lambuth University, and Bethel College. Corporate sponsors include Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Medtronic, The Jackson Sun, Wells Fargo Financial, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the U.S. Army, Sherwin Williams, Sterling Health Plans, Walgreens, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Lowe’s, U.S. Marines Office Programs and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

“Each of our institutions wants its students and alumni to effectively network with quality local, regional and national corporations, and government and non-profit entities,” said Jacqueline Taylor, Union’s assistant dean of students and director of career services. “This annual career fair gives our recruiting employers the opportunity to dialogue with quality candidates for early hiring before spring graduations are held. We also want current students to have the option to secure challenging internships for the summer and next academic year. The Job Market is a win-win event for our recruiting companies and for our students and alumni.”

A complete list of recruiting companies attending the career fair is available at www.tjmfair.com. The event is free of charge for all students and alumni of the five sponsoring institutions. Dress is professional, and those attending should bring multiple copies of their resume to distribute to prospective employers.
