JACKSON, Tenn. – March 7, 2007– Local sixth graders from six different schools will compete March 9 at Union University in an annual event sponsored by Union’s Students in Free Enterprise organization.
The Junior SIFE International Trade Show will give students from 11 classrooms an opportunity to present a project on which they’ve been working.
SIFE team members have been visiting the 11 classes to teach the sixth graders about foreign markets and international marketing. Students this year are creating snack food products to be sold in foreign markets.
Each team has a different country to research, and must then create a marketing strategy to promote and sell its product in that market.
At the trade show, the classes will set up booths with information about their products and countries. Each group will also make a presentation to professionals from local businesses and Union faculty.
The day will conclude with the top classes making their presentations to the entire group, with one winner selected.
The show will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. For more information, call Marielle Dirkx at (601) 613-7473.
