JACKSON, Tenn. – Oct. 25, 2007 – Lealice Dehoney, a 1961 Union University alumnus and founding member of the Union Auxiliary, died Oct. 23 at age 82.
Dehoney was also an emeritus trustee and was the wife of Wayne Dehoney, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and former pastor of First Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn., and Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky.
“Lealice Dehoney was a loyal friend to her alma mater,” Union President David S. Dockery said. “Generous in every way, Lealice provide leadership for our alums, served faithfully on the Union board of trustees and provided guidance for the early days of the Union Auxiliary. We give thanks to God for her life, her influence and her legacy.”
Visitation will be Oct. 27 from 2-7 p.m. at Pearson’s Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky. The funeral will be Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Memorials may be sent to the Union Auxiliary at 1050 Union University Drive, Jackson, Tenn., 38305.
Due to inclement weather, all Union campuses will be closed on Thursday, March 5, with all day and evening classes canceled.
The wellness center will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and the aquatic center will be open from 1-3 p.m.
Friday's Preview Day has been canceled.
Nathan Shoemaker's junior recital has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Hartley Recital Hall.
Brewer Dining Hall will be open from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. for continuous service.
