JACKSON, Tenn. – Aug. 17, 2009– The Lambda-Zeta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Union University won the 2009 Grand High Alpha Award at the fraternity’s annual Stead Leadership Seminar July 29-Aug. 1 in Indianapolis.
Ed Leonard, chairman of the board of Lambda Chi Alpha, presented the award to the Union chapter.
“The brothers of Lambda-Zeta chapter at Union University are dedicated to being a model fraternity on their campus,” Leonard said. “In the last three years, they have maintained a high level of individual and campus involvement, community service, risk management practices and fraternal education.”
The award, which was given to only three of the 193 active chapters in the United States and Canada, recognizes those chapters that have maintained a superior level of operations for at least three consecutive years, in such areas as academics, campus involvement, recruitment, philanthropy and community service.
This marks the sixth time for Union chapter's chapter to receive the award since the chapter was chartered on the Union campus in 1964.
