Union student director brings True West to Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn.April 24, 2002

Alum Jeremy Young and student James Nolen share the stage during the upcoming production of True West.
Union University senior and theatre major Graham Hillard will direct True West, a drama about the role reversals of two brothers. The show will run Thursday, May 2 – Saturday, May 4 and Monday, May 6 in the W.D. Powell Theatre on Union’s Jackson campus.

Produced by the Union University Theatre Department in conjunction with Alpha Psi Omega and David Burke, Union theatre professor, True West tells the story of a petty thief who forces his screenwriter brother to collaborate on a “True American Western,” and the mirroring relationship that begins to occur which may prove dangerous.

The cast includes Union student James Nolen, Union alum Jeremy Young, Charlotte Burke and Union Director of University Relations Wayne Johnson. Tickets are $7 for adults, and $3 for students with an additional dollar for reserved seating. The time for all performances is 8 p.m. with the exception of the May 6 performance at 8:30 p.m.

Hillard is a graduating senior who is from Cordova, Tenn. His previous shows include Die Ratzel, and Tone Clusters.
