JACKSON, Tenn. – Aug. 27, 2003– The Union University art gallery will host "In My Room," the works of Michael R. Ransdell Sept. 2-26. The show is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends. An artist reception will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 26.
Ransdell's work consists primarily of intricate miniature rooms. He is "interested in the creative process; observing what God's creation is and what man does to it, and the relationship we have with Him through that creative process."
More than a decade ago, Ransdell created a miniature carpenter area with Joseph and Jesus. The idea expanded to miniature shop tools and ultimately inspired the box constructions which will be featured in the show.
Ransdell carves his figures from buck-eye burl, and completes his constructions with metal, plastic, wood, leather, stone and other found objects.
