Union University Singers present concert at Woodland Baptist Church

JACKSON, Tenn.March 29, 2004 – The Union University Singers and Proclamation ensemble will present their tour concert at Woodland Baptist Church in Jackson on Sunday, April 4, at 6 p.m. They have just returned from their spring tour to churches and schools in Missouri, Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee. The community is invited to attend and enjoy their tour performance.

The program will include selections by Rachmaninov, Bruckner, Clausen and Stanford, as well as hymn-arrangements and spirituals.

The University Singers have represented Union University for many years, both nationally and abroad in performances for major musical organizations, churches and conventions. They have maintained a reputation for their outstanding performances of choral masterworks, a cappella settings of gospel hymns, Renaissance motets and contemporary anthem literature. In recent years, the Singers’ concert tours have included Brazil, Germany and England.

The Singers are conducted by Dr. James Richard Joiner, chair of the department of music and director of choral activities.

Union University Announcement for March 5

Due to inclement weather, all Union campuses will be closed on Thursday, March 5, with all day classes canceled.

A decision on evening classes at Jackson and Germantown will be made by noon on Thursday. Hendersonville evening classes are canceled.

The wellness center will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and the aquatic center will be open from 1-3 p.m.
