Union University will promote health during Wellness Week

JACKSON, Tenn.March 28, 2001– Union University will hold its annual Wellness Week Tuesday, April 3 through Thursday, April 5 sponsored by Wellness Services.

The week will begin with a 5k run on campus. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. at the fountain, and the race begins at 3 p.m. Runners will be divided into male and female groups and also by age groups. Each participant will receive a T-shirt, and the top three in each category will receive a prize.

Later that evening, a stretching and relaxation technique class will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the small gym. Participants are asked to wear loose and comfortable clothing and bring a towel.

Wednesday, April 4 there will be a Health Fair in the main gym where services such as cholesterol and blood pressure screening and vision and hearing testing will be offered to students.

A brown bag seminar titled “Stress Management” will conclude the week. Dr. Paul Deschenes will speak in Coburn Dining Hall at 12:15 p.m.
