The Lambda-Zeta Zeta chapter here in Jackson, Tennessee is one of the relatively young chapters in our Fraternity. Brother Sam Gutherie ZQ 218 transferred to Union University after he was initiated in the chapter at Memphis State University. After arriving at Union he met a pledge of ATW, Jerry Thompson, who was dissatisfied with his fraternal experience and decided to drop out. The two became friends and decided to try to form a chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha at Union. With faculty support from Warren F. Jones and Frank Blythe, they began a colony here in Jackson on May 15, 1961. The colony proved to be good ground in which the precepts of Lambda Chi Alpha could faithfully flourish and on December 5, 1964 the colony received its charter, making it the Lambda-Zeta Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha.
The chapter has undergone some drastic changes since that charter year of 1964. Union has moved campuses to the north end of Jackson where we have constructed a new house. We have had years of drastically poor numbers, and have enjoyed years of tremendous population. We have always had the great brotherhood we currently enjoy, and still earnestly seek after Christ and His will for the chapter. We have learned from our past, and have great hope for our future.
