Student Tennessee Education Association (STEA) Promotes Reading at Union’s Family Weekend
October 3, 2013 - Union University recently sponsored its annual Family Weekend on September 27-29, having one of the largest turnouts in recent years. Train and hot air balloon rides, along with a variety of food options, were available to those in attendance.
Union University’s chapter of the Student Tennessee Education Association (STEA) contributed to the event by reading books to children. The STEA members also promoted reading by helping children decorate bookmarks. School of Education faculty welcomed parents and other adults to the booth, offering them free coffee. The School of Education faculty enjoyed meeting the family members of current Education majors, while also pleasantly talking with the young families of recent alumni. The event concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
The School of Education has been an active participant in the University’s Family Weekend on an annual basis. It is a wonderful time for the university community to collectively share time together in fellowship and fun. This year’s event was no exception.
