Parents Monthly Issue - October 2013

October Update

The middle of the semester is already upon us! We ushered in the month of October with a fantastic Family Weekend. Visiting with many of you during our Bagel and Coffee Reception. We hope you enjoyed the rest of the weekend, spending time with your students and seeing them in their new environment.

Fall Break takes place the second week in October. This is a great time for students to rest and recharge their batteries so that they can finish the second half of the semester strong. Our office will be mailing home midsemester update packages, which will include grades (note: one-hour courses are not required to submit grades for midsemester, so don't be surprised if those grades are not included), chapel balances, and comments from each student's Keystone Academic Support counselor. Please take time to review and reflect on this information with your student. Returning to the classroom after Fall Break provides a wonderful opportunity to course-correct and strengthen poor grades from the first half of the semester. Encourage your student to take advantage of the resources and opportunities available to them.

Coming up:

The month of November is full of activity. Every year, Union gives to the Jackson community by participating in a day of service. Students from across campus will participate in projects throughout Jackson, and Keystone will be flexing our muscles building wheelchair ramps. All Keystone students will be participate in this service day; annually, this is one of our students' favorite activities. We look forward to serving alongside our students.

Priority registration for Winter and Spring semesters will also begin in November. Your students will be receiving detailed information on how this process works. Be looking for updates here.

Have a wonderful October!
