Education Program Thanksgiving 1999 Keypaling Anna Clifford & Melessia Mathis' |
|
The project centered around keypaling (electronic penpals) between teacher candidates enrolled in Instructional Design V (Sc & SS) and two second grade classes at Haywood Elementary School (two teachers and 35 children). The e-mails from the university teacher candidates were routed into the second grade classroom. Because there was only one computer available, the classroom teachers printed the content, the students hand wrote their response, the classroom teachers keyed in the unedited notes and the e-mails arrived for the teachers candidates! E-mails were exchanged between assigned partners, first exchanging personal information and then content focusing on Our First Thanksgiving. After several weeks of successful keypaling, the students came to Union University's campus. The university teacher candidates planned, prepared and presented learner involvement activities themeing the topic. The day was completed with a creative feast and authentic games. It was a fun-learning experience! |
