Get Ready to Tell Your Tale!!!!!!!!

Materials Needed:  One computer per group, internet access, various props provided by the teacher, paper, and pencil.

Duration of Learning Web:  1 Week

Scaffolding:  This activity will be teacher led for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade Theatre Arts Classes.  The children will need to be familiar with plots, stages, casting, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Statement of Problem:  Your teacher needs your help!!!!! There are too many tall tales for her to direct as skits by herself.  She needs you to listen to the stories and follow the directions to act out each story for her.  Get your thinkin' caps and help her out before she goes crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Instructions for activity #1---- Listen to the Teacher as she reads the story for your group. (knowledge)

 

Instructions for activity #2---- Click on the  to go to the tables to tell about   the characters.  Give their name in the first column and tell what they look like in the second column. When you complete the work PRINT ONLY......DO NOT SAVE. (Comprehension)

 

Instructions for activity #3---- Click on the  to go to the table to tell what the story is about.  In the first column tell the beginning of the story, in the second column tell the middle of the story and in the third column tell the end of the story. When you complete the work PRINT ONLY......DO NOT SAVE. (Analysis)

 

Instructions for activity #4---- Click on the  to go to the sheet to plan out your stage.  Click on and drag the item where you want to place it if you were going to act out your story. When you complete the work PRINT ONLY......DO NOT SAVE. (Analysis)

 

Instructions for activity #5----- With the help of the teacher print each activity and use to direct your version of the tall tale.  You will need to choose choose a director, your cast, and set up your stage.  You should take the allowed class time to practice your skit. (Synthesis)

Instructions for activity #6-----Perform your version of the Tall Tale at the teacher assigned time. (Synthesis)

Instructions for activity #7-----Each group will critique their own as well as each other groups performance.  (Evaluation)
