Criteria for Scaffolding Activity on Secondary School Administration


Lesson Objective:  Undergraduate students will determine job requirements and benefits to becoming a principal on a secondary level.  In addition, candidates will apply tools enhancing their own professional growth and productivity.  They will use technology in communicating, collaborating, conducting research, and solving problems.

Assignment Details:

  1. Select at least 3 websites from the list given below under Websites. Find 10 facts and 10 figures that relate to of the following topic: African Americans in Administration K-12.  You will have a total of 10 facts and figures. (comprehension)
  2. Enter the paraphrased facts on an Excel spreadsheet according to facts (African American in Administration K-12), figures, and the URL of the source. See example of spreadsheet below. Every row of the spreadsheet will have text in all three columns. (application, synthesis)
  3. Combine the information into a PowerPoint presentation consisting of only four slides (1 title slide, 1 slide that give the facts relating to the website, 1 slide that gives figures relating to the website, and 1 slide with suggestions of what you can do about the problem). (analysis, synthesis, evaluation)
  4. Based on what you have learned through visiting these websites, draft a 1 page reflection on the assignment, adding additional feedback on how the problem can be address. (comprehension, synthesis)
