Introduction

This learning web is designed to initiate students to the world of work through work-based learning.  This activity will be assigned to students at the end of the semester before they are to begin their work-based learning experience.  Any student who is planning to Co-Op will be expected to have a job prior to the beginning of the work-based learning semester.

Students will use the Internet to find out what skills are needed to secure a marketing related job.   By using Microsoft Excel, potential employees will create a chart in which they will log information about prospective employers to show they are aggressively seeking a job.  With the use of Microsoft Word, students will display effective communication skills by compiling a working resume with a cover letter and thank-you letter. In conclusion, students will search the Internet for the proper interview etiquette and present their findings through a Microsoft PowerPoint to be shared with the class.

In addition, each student will be required to take an entrance interview and an exit interview in which will be video taped.  Students will review each interview and give a one-page critique on each.  The end result for all students will be GETTING THE JOB!
