The "real world” is portrayed by the media in many different ways today. Every TV network markets and sells some kind of “reality” show.  ABC’s “The Bachelor” portrays a young man who is searching for love among 25 young women. The setting for this show is usually very elaborate and romantic. That’s “real”. Right? “Fear Factor” is another reality show that allows young men and women to do anything to win large sums of money.  While each of these shows are very entertaining they give a falsified sense of what reality really is. We have designed these next couple of projects to give you a realistic look into “reality” and what it really means to be a responsible adult.

The Problem

 You have just graduated from high-school and are not planning on going to college.  You must move out of your parents house, find a job, and learn how manage your finances.  You have never owned a checking account, created a budget, or even thought about saving money.  Welcome to the real world!  DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?!!!!

Materials Needed: Computer, Internet, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point,
Mock Checkbook and Register
