Problem Statement: 

     Owning your own business is a way to be creative, challenging and direct your own future.  Entrepreneurship is the arm of the US economy.  According to the Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2007, there are approximately 10.5 million entrepreneurs in the United States. Being your own boss does not guarantee success.  In fact, nearly two out of every three new businesses fail within five years.  But there are many success stories. Assume your personal dream is to be an entrepreneur.  What does it take to start a business from the ground up?

  • Does the demand exist for your business idea? TN Dept of Labor
  • Do you have the required work skills to operate in that particular field? Occupational Outlook Handbook Online
  • Do you have the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur?
  • How does DECA and/or FBLA help you to become a successful entrepreneur? DECA  or FBLA 
  • How do you structure and fund a business? SBA
