Beta Club is service organization and the members must complete 10 hours of community service. The library is a favorite place for students to serve their hours. However, Mrs. Cloutier has requirements for her student workers. (1) In order for students to be able to distinguish and select genres of literature, the student must know the definitions and characteristics of each genre and be well rounded in knowledge of a variety of authors. (2) In order to identify quality literature, the student must be able to recall elements of fiction and determine if the selection meets the criteria for good literature. (3) In order to communicate effectively about literature, the student should be able to construct either a written or oral commentary.
