Discover the many treasures in your library!

  Problem:
There are so many books in the library we have no idea what treasures are to be found.  How can we learn more about the different types of books in the library?  This is a mystery that we have to solve.  Everyone get your spyglass and sleuthing hat!

Goal: 
The learner will become familiar with the different genres that are available in the library and  discover the treasure of reading.

State Standards
 

 
  Objectives:

NTLW create a PowerPoint to establish an understanding on the different types of genres.

NTLW  will participate in  a group scavenger hunt to find books in the library by exploring the different genres and create a spreadsheet from Excel to report their findings.

NTLW generate a book riddle on their favorite book using a basic Word format.

NTLW create a character doll from one their favorite books found while searching the genres.  The student will give a book talk including five interesting details of their story.

NTLW complete a reflection of how they did on this project.

Duration:  Six Weeks - Students meet once a week for one hour.  The last two weeks of the unit the students will present their activities.

Scaffolding:  Students have been introduced to PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and exploring the Internet.  Here are links to help the students with the activities they are to complete.  Need Help?
