Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stand on stage and perform lyrics that you had written yourself? Have you ever wondered how rap and hip-hop artists come up with all of their songs? The answer is poetry.

In this unit, you will become a “rap” artist. You will create your own original works and present them at a coffee house we will hold at the end of the unit.

You will use the internet and other software programs to generate your portfolio and educate your classmates about a famous poet.

In class, we will be studying many different styles of poetry and many different poets. Each day, you will be creating your own original poems in class with my help. Each poem will have different requirements. After completing this learning web, you should be able to take your handwritten copies of your poems and use the computer to make a final copies to go in your portfolio. You will also create a PowerPoint presentation about one poet of your choosing. This entire project will take approximately three weeks to complete which includes the in class work and computer time.
