This interdisciplinary unit was developed for second grade.  It will take approximately one week to complete and may be done individually, in pairs, or in small groups.

 

 

 

 

Objectives

 

 

 

Our earth has many kinds of plants.  Flowers and trees are plants. Tomatoes and beans are plants. Grass is a plant. Plants are living things that have parts, and they change over time just like people do.

What is your favorite plant? What do plants need to live and be healthy?

Are plants important in our world?

The Tasks

You will have 3 tasks to complete.

1)  Pretend you are a plant.  What kind would you want to be? Write a paragraph describing yourself and complete a spreadsheet.

2)  What are the parts of a plant?  Find out what plants need to grow and be healthy.

3)   Find at least three ways that plants are important to our world?
