The Inklings Fellowship began informally as a group of friends with a common interest in C. S. Lewis and a common concern for the loss of positive Christian vitality in the mainstream of American higher education. Beginning with the first Inklings Weekend in 2001, the Inklings Fellowship has grown to include resources and programs designed to offer encouragement and stimulation for Christians called to education.
The leadership of the Inklings Fellowship comes from Christians engaged in full time teaching and from other Christians who have demonstrated a love of learning over many years of service. The Inklings Fellowship is composed of "mere Christians" who contribute a minimum of $100 per year. Members receive regular communications and are the first to receive information about conferences, lectures, and special events. They also are entitled to discounts on cost related events. Members elect one at-large member to the board of trustees at the annual meeting.
