| Panhellenic Council |
|
The object of the Panhellenic Council shall be to develop and maintain fraternity life and interfraternity relations at a high level of accomplishment and in so doing:
The council is composed of three delegates from each chapter of the social sororities on campus: Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Delta and Chi Omega. Each fall, the PH host Formal Recruitment, the period when new students are first eligible to join one of the sororities. Typically, Recruitment begins on the Thursday following Labor Day with the Panhellenic Open Party. The Recruitment schedule and rules are explained to all participants at this event, and over the next week, each sorority hosts three parties for potential new members. If you are a new student beginning classes in the Fall and would like to participate in Recruitment, it is very easy to register. Download and complete the Recruitment Registration Form, submit it with the Recruitment fee and be sure to attend the Panhellenic Open Party in September. Do not think twice about giving these groups a look if they interest you. Participating in Rush in the fall carries with it no obligation to join any group. It is quite common for men and women to participate without having the intention to join any of the organizations; for them, recruitment is an opportunity to meet other students, enjoy themselves and eat nice meals for a very low price (…in college, you are ALWAYS in search of cheap food). It is also not unusual for the same students to find themselves in a circle of new sisters when just a few days prior they thought the Greek system probably was not for them. |
