You’re ready to take that crucial next step, transferring to a four-year university, and you need to make a decision that will allow you to pursue your chosen field with the best chance for success.

Transfer Students : FAQ

Is there a minimum GPA requirement for students transferring?

Yes. Students must have a 2.3 cumulative GPA in order to be considered for unconditional acceptance.

How many credits are needed in order to transfer?

Transfer students must have a minimum of 24 credit hours to transfer. Students with less than 24 hours must apply as freshmen and meet freshmen admission requirements and transfer GPA requirements.

What is your process for evaluating my transcripts?

Official transcripts from all colleges attended are to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Undergraduate Admissions will forward your transcripts to the University Registrar for evaluation if you have applied for admission to the university. We will not officially evaluate your transcripts unless you have an Application for Admission on file in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. An evaluation report will be typed and mailed to you from the Registrar's Office. Your Enrollment Counselor will be happy to unofficially review your course work with you, but final determination of the transferability of the courses rest with the Registrar.

When is the deadline to apply for admission?

Applications for admission are accepted on a rolling basis until the class is full. You may apply at any time during the year, but early applications are encouraged.

Do transfer students need to submit a high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores?

Only students transferring with less than 24 credit hours must submit high school transcripts and official ACT/SAT test scores.

Is housing available for transfer students?

Yes. Housing is available for transfer students. Every residential student is assigned to a private bedroom. Married student housing is also available.

Are scholarships and financial aid available?

Transfer students who have the equivalent of 24 semester hours and at least a 3.0 GPA are eligible for a Transfer/Academic Leadership Scholarship ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 annually depending on GPA. Phi Theta Kappa members will receive $2,500 per year in addition to the transfer scholarship amount. Need-based financial aid is also available. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is located at www.fafsa.gov, must be filed. Aid is awarded after being admitted.
