Dr. Jill HendersonJuly 22, 2016 - Dr. Jill Henderson has been hired to serve as a full-time faculty member in the School of Education at Union University.  Her work as an Associate Professor of Special Education will begin in the fall of the 2016-17 academic year.  Henderson comes to Union with an extensive background in education.  Most recently she was an English teacher at Sevier County High School in Sevierville, TN.  She also has served as an adjunct professor at Byran College and the University of Tennessee.  Henderson holds a Doctor of Education in Teacher Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  She also holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Special Education from UT-Knoxville.

Henderson has worked as an educator, and particularly in special education, for over two decades.  Her heart and passion for learning are evident in her own words, “If my delivery is admirable or expert and I fail to communicate love, then I fail.”  Henderson’s students will undoubtedly benefit from her relational respect for the processes of learning, as well as from her genuine care for her students.

Executive Dean of the College of Education and Human Studies, Dr. Tom Rosebrough, speaks highly of Henderson’s strong sense of learning and faith integration. To this end, Rosebrough says, “Dr. Jill Henderson has a special way with words as she describes her approach to the integration of her faith with her discipline and her teaching. Jill’s experience in education is significant and her love of learning will be contagious with her students.”
