August 5, 2014 - Dr. Versie Hamlett has been appointed to serve as the Director of Schools for Humboldt City Schools, located in Humboldt, Tennessee. Dr. Hamlett earned a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Union University in 2008, and she has held a variety of positions in education in the Jackson, Tennessee area.
Most recently, Dr. Hamlett has been serving as the Chief Academic Officer for the Jackson-Madison County School System since 2013. Prior to this position, she has served as a supervisor of elementary education, assistant principal, and principal in the school system. At Union she has also served as adjunct professor.
“Being a lifelong learner, I continued my educational training at Union University and completed my doctoral degree. I have passionately extended myself to further horizons that I knew, with determination, I could reach. My power of potential was always forefront as I trained and studied to reach the pinnacle of leadership for a school district," Hamlett said.
Hamlett also stated, "As Superintendent of Humboldt City Schools, I look forward to leading the implementation of the district’s Board-adopted strategic plan in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and school improvement. I am excited to support teachers and administrators through professional development that supports best practices in education while ensuring that the district’s missions and goals are achieved. I will work tirelessly to ensure academic excellence as my number one priority for all students of Humboldt City Schools.”
