Wildlife Rehab Center

The Union University Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (UUWRC) focuses on raptor rehabilitation. The caged portion of the building has been constructed large enough to house an eagle while being rehabilitated but has been designed so that partitioning can occur to house other birds of prey, as there should be few eagles that come through our program.

The Center serves as an exceptional training ground for students interested in careers in conservation, environmental, and wildlife biology, as well as those entering into the field of parks and recreation.

The birds that are permanently housed at the UUWRC make appearances both on and off-campus and put Union at the forefront of local public education of wildlife and conservation issues.

RENOVATION CAMPAIGN

In addition to the existing Center, a mouse room was constructed in order to raise enough mice to provide the complete diet for the birds housed at the Center.  However, for a variety of reasons, the mouse room has fallen into disrepair (largely due to water damage), and the Center building itself is in need of renovations.  The original estimate came in at $40,000, but we have reworked the modifications to integrate the mouse room into the Center building.  The estimate for this modification is $10,000.

Our campaign goal is to raise $10,000 by October 1, 2017 to make these updates to the facility.  These updates provide multiple benefits, including being able to showcase an updated facility to aid in recruitment of prospective students.
