GoPro Camera Drone - Dr. Don Van and Dr. Randy Schwindt will be working with seniors Zachary Baker, Alex Charles, and Taylor Mayo on a project entitled “Engineering Major Design: GoPro Camera Drone.” The group plans to build a drone with a mounted camera that can be used to take aerial photographs of Union’s campus.
Kinetic Theory Model for Macro to Micro-scale Applications - Dr. Georg Pingen will be working with sophomores Zachary Benson and Dillon Lisk and senior Andrew Tan on a project entitled “Development of Kinetic Theory Model for Macro- to Micro-scale Applications.”

3D Thermal Fluidic Topology Optimization - In November of 2012, Caroline McConnell represented Union at the ASME International Congress in Houston, Texas, with a poster presentation entitled “3D Thermal Fluidic Topology Optimization.” Her paper and presentation reported on research work she performed in collaboration with Dr. Georg Pingen. Caroline also participated in related research during the previous summer through the University of Hawaii’s Research Experience for Undergraduates.
