Day One

Thursday, June 4, 2020; Monday, June 15, 2020; Thursday, June 25, 2020

  Welcome — Grant Events Center
  Join President Dr. Samuel W. "Dub" Oliver for our opening session as he talks about the Union experience. Student coordinators and university staff will explain what we hope you gain from Orientation.
• Guests10:30 a.m.
  Panel of Campus Experts — Grant Events Center
  Union has great resources for your student and we want you to know about them. This session is led by Dr. Bryan Carrier, Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students, who will guide a panel highlighting campus resources.
• Students10:30 a.m.
  Traditions Walk — Great Lawn
  Meet your classmates, and then learn about the history of campus and its impact on students today.
  
  Union 101 — Bowld Student Commons
  Get acquainted with some of the programs and resources in place to help you succeed in the classroom.
• 12 p.m.
  Lunch — Brewer Dining Hall
  Members of the Honors cohort will meet in Coburn 1 inside of Brewer Dining Hall.
• 1:15 p.m., 1:50 p.m., 2:25 p.m.
  Rotating Sessions — Various Locations
  We want students and guests to know about campus life at Union and some of the resources that can supplement learning. Pick three sessions that interest you (see below). Each one will last 25 minutes (unless otherwise noted).

• 3:30 p.m.
  Faculty Panel — Grant Events Center
  Hear from our faculty about classroom expectations.
• 4:15 p.m.
  ResLife Check-In — Bowld Gym
  Pick up your key for the evening. During this block, you will have time to fill out required paperwork.

Day Two

Friday, June 5, 2020; Tuesday, June 16, 2020; Friday, June 26, 2020

During Day 2 of NSO, you will need go to the Safety and Security Office (SUB, SA-60) to take your picture for your student ID and pick up your parking permit.

• 8–10:30 a.m.
  Grab-n-Go Breakfast — Bowld Student Commons, Fireplace Room
• 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  Advising Appointments and Registration — Various Locations
  Check-in with the New Student Orientation Team in the Bowld Lobby to begin the registration and advising process.
  
  You will receive your individual advising appointment times at the orientation session. During these appointments, you will meet with an Academic Advisor and Financial Planning. Members of the Honors Cohort will have a meeting with the Honors Program, and students who requested to have a meeting with Disability Services will meet with Dr. Greg Bohner in PAC F-39.
• BEFORE CHECKING OUT in the Bowld Student Commons Lobby, remember to complete the following:
• Pick up your parking permit (Safety and Security Office, SUB, SA-60)
• Take ID picture (Safety and Security Office, SUB, SA-60)
• Fill out Emergency Contact Information and FERPA Declaration (selfservice.uu.edu)
• Optional:
  9 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., & 12 p.m.
  Residence Life Tour — starts in Bowld Student Commons
  During free time between appointments, we want to give you an opportunity to see oncampus apartments, including rooms in the Quads and Heritage. Meet at the front desk of the Bowld Student Commons.

  From Greek Life to student organizations to campus-wide events, come find out how to be plugged in and make the most of your Union experience.
• University Ministries | Bowld Gym
  Life Groups, GO Trips, community service, chapel, and the local church. Come hear how to get involved in all the Office of University Ministries has to offer for your time at Union!
• Vocatio Center for Life Calling and Career | Coburn 1 (Inside Brewer Dining Hall)
  The pursuit of your life calling and career begins now! At this must-see session, you will learn about applying to Work-Study jobs on campus, choosing a major, and preparing for your future career.
• Social Work | BAC 87
  Earn your BSW and MSW in five years at Union University. From counseling to healthcare to missions, the MSW degree has unlimited career opportunities! Come learn how to be a difference maker for others.
• Music for Non-Majors | Jennings 158
  Whether you sing, play an instrument, have studied music for many years or are interested in starting your musical journey, there is a place for you at Union.
• McAfee School of Business | BAC 44
  Discover how the McAfee School of Business can be a resource for all students through internships, projects in the community, and learn about Jackson's top attractions. Also, learn about the opportunity to earn an undergraduate degree and MBA at Union in as little as 4-5 years!
• Study Abroad | Language Lab (PAC H-40)
  Interested in combining your education with transformational travel experiences? Stop by this session and find out how Union can take you around the world.
• Pharmacy Early Admission Program (PEAP) | Providence 161
  Interested in becoming a Pharmacist? Join us and find out how Union pre-pharmacy students can earn guaranteed admission to the College of Pharmacy.
• Center for Academic Success | Harvey Auditorium (1:15pm ONLY)
  CAS offers a wide range of programs and resources to assist students in their academic journey. Starting with academic resources such as Supplemental Instruction, Discipline/Class Specific Study Labs to our highly successful Keystone programs for freshmen, our Center is a place to learn how to learn while learning what to learn.
• Elective Keystone | Harvey Auditorium (1:50pm ONLY)
  An Academic Support for the First Year. The Elective Keystone program is the perfect resource to help you navigate through any obstacles or bumps during your first year at Union. Learn how this program can assist in designing an academic support plan individualized for your needs and provide resources and support for a successful first year.
• Academic Advising Undecided Freshmen | Harvey Auditorium (2:25pm ONLY)
  If you are currently a freshman without a major, join this session to meet your Academic Advisor and discover the opportunities available to explore your options and discuss all the resources.
