Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Off-Campus Systems Access
Effective immediately, off-campus access to any password-protected systems such as SelfService, Canvas, or Office365 will require a higher level of authentication similar to what Google, Amazon, and banks use. More specifically, when you attempt to sign into a password-protected site from off campus, you will be prompted to enter a one-time code sent to your phone or email to verify your identity. Enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) ensures that the only person who has access to your account is you. To set up MFA, you only need to set up your contact information at Microsoft's security page. (If you have previously created your contact information, please review for accuracy). After you complete your setup, test your authentication off campus at SelfService.uu.edu Optional Feature: You can also use the security page to register a mobile device for one-tap authentication. First, install the Microsoft Authenticator app onto your mobile device. Then, on a computer (not your mobile device) use the security page's Add Method to register the device for your 'Work or school' Union email account. The page will prompt you to scan a QR code using the Authenticator app and your device's camera, during the one-time setup. Finally, change the Default sign-in method to Microsoft Authenticator. #BeCyberSmart with help from the Department of Homeland Security.
