JACKSON, March 6--Union University will host the 34th Annual West Tennessee Regional Science Fair beginning Thursday, March 21, in the Fred Delay Gymnasium. Exhibits will be open to the public from 1-9 p.m. Thursday, March 21, and from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, March 22.
The West Tennessee Regional Science Fair features top science students representing schools from across the region. Students are divided into junior and senior high divisions, where they compete in both physical and biological categories. Entries are judged by representatives from area colleges and universities, industries, government agencies and the military.
Winning students from the senior divisions, with their sponsoring teacher, will receive an expense-paid trip to the 47th Annual International Science and Engineering Fair, which is scheduled for May 5-11 in Tucson, Arizona. Other awards include Union University scholarships, cash prizes, and special awards from area industries, government agencies, and the military.
Awards will be presented, Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
