UNION UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES WEST TENNESSEE REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS

JACKSON, April 16-- Winners of the 34th annual West Tennessee Regional Science Fair were announced recently in a ceremony at Union University.

Nishea Foley of Camden Central High School and Richa Airee of Martin Westview High School took top honors in the senior high divisions. Foley's The Viability of Glochidia of the Butterfly Mussel won the senior biological division, while Airee's Assay of Nitric Oxide and Nitric Oxide Synthase won the senior physical category.

Foley and Airee were chosen from entries representing schools across West Tennessee, excluding Shelby County. The event was judged by representatives from area colleges and universities, industries, government agencies, and the military.

Foley, Airee and their sponsoring teachers will receive an expense-paid trip to the 47th International Science and Engineering Fair in Tuscon, Arizona this May. Both winners also earned a $1,000 Union University scholarship, a $60 cash award and a plaque.
