JACKSON, August 5-- Union University's accreditation was recently reaffirmed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools following a two-year self-study and evaluation process.
Accreditation was extended for the University's graduate and undergraduate programs to confer the following degrees: bachelor of arts, bachelor of music, bachelor of science, bachelor of science in business administration, bachelor of science in nursing, bachelor of science in medical technology, master of education and master of business administration.
Every ten years, the University undergoes a two-year self-study process. Following the self-study, an evaluation team representing the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools visits the University to assess the institution and make recommendations. Reaffirmation of accreditation is awarded based on the team's recommendations.
Union University, located in Jackson, Tenn., is a four-year, liberal arts university affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. Founded in 1823, the 2,000-student institution is the oldest university in the Southern Baptist Convention.
