CLAY CROSSE TO HEADLINE UNION UNIVERSITY'S CAMPUS DAY OCT. 7

JACKSON, September 11-- Popular Christian recording artist Clay Crosse will highlight activities at Union University's Campus Day Saturday, Oct. 5.

Crosse is one of many attractions slated for Campus Day, Union's annual festival for high school students.

"Campus Day is an opportunity for students to see what sets Union apart from other schools," Trent Presley, Union's director of recruitment, said. "It shows what Union is all about; everything from our faculty and students to our organizations and activities."

Students may choose from a variety of activities, including Greek Olympics, musical and dramatic presentations, a faculty reception, campus tours, a food fair, and organizational displays. Union's soccer club will play the University of Mississippi at 2:30 p.m.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. in the main lobby of Union's Penick Academic Complex.

Crosse caps a full day of activities at 6 p.m. when he brings his Time to Believe tour to Union's G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.

Crosse's unique blend of adult contemporary pop and blue-eyed soul has impressed fans and critics alike since his 1994 debut, My Place is With You, which earned him Dove Award nominations for Best New Artist and Best Male Vocalist.

His follow-up effort proved equally successful, as Crosse received another Dove nomination for Best Male Vocalist and readers of CCM Magazine voted him "Inspirational Artist of the Year."

"Crosse has appeared on Late Night With Conan O'Brien," was featured as a member of the 1995 Young Messiah" tour, and has toured with artists such as Twila Paris, 4HIM, and Kathy Troccoli.

A $5 registration fee covers all activities, dinner and admission to the Clay Crosse concert. For more information, call Union's office of admissions at (901) 661-5000 or 1-800-33UNION.
