UNION UNIVERSITY TO HOLD INAUGURAL  CONVOCATION FOR PRESIDENT DAVID S. DOCKERY OCT. 16

JACKSON, October 7-- Union University will hold an inaugural convocation honoring David S. Dockery, the University's 15th president. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in Union's G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.

Featured on the program is Dr. Millard Erickson, distinguished professor of theology at Baylor University's Truett Seminary and at Western Seminary in Portland, Ore., who will deliver a lecture titled "The Christian Heart and Mind in the Twenty-First Century."

Erickson, one of the nation's leading evangelical scholars, has authored 22 books including the three-volume Christian Theology and The Word Became Flesh, both of which received Gold Medallion Awards from the Evangelical Publishers Association. In 1991, Christianity Today recognized The Word Became Flesh as the "Best Book in Theology". His writings are the topic of a forthcoming book edited by Dockery, titled New Dimensions in Evangelical Theology: Essays in Honor of Millard J. Erickson.
