JACKSON, October 24-- Career missionaries and representatives from several national mission-oriented organizations will share ministry opportunities with Union University students during the University's Global Missions Week, scheduled for Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
"We're very excited about exposing our students to a variety of opportunities and providing an occasion for the public to learn more about missionaries and their work," Terri Kozlowitz, Union's assistant director of student ministries, said.
Global Missions Week kicks off Monday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel, when Steve and Dottie Babcock, missionaries to the Ivory Coast, West Africa, and Union's missionaries-in-residence, will share their experiences as career missionaries.
Representatives from various missions-related organizations, including the Southern Baptist Convention's Home Mission Board, World Changers and the Tennessee Baptist Convention, will be on hand throughout the week to meet interested students and discuss both volunteer and career mission opportunities.
In addition, many of the 150-plus Union students who served in various locations last summer as volunteer missionaries will set up booths detailing their own experiences.
The students' efforts will highlight a service Friday, Nov. 1, when Union students will report on their personal experiences as summer missionaries. The service begins at 10 a.m. in the chapel.
All chapel events related to Global Missions Week are open to the public. For more information, call Union's office of campus ministries at (901) 661-5244.
