UNION STUDENTS TO OBSERVE NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK IN AREA SCHOOLS

JACKSON, November 6-- Union University's student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society will present chemistry demonstrations at several area schools this week in honor of National Chemistry Week.

The Union students are graduates of the American Chemical Society's "Kids in Chemistry" program, which aims to expose younger students to the field of chemistry. The students will demonstrate the chemical processes involved in basic household items.

Throughout National Chemistry Week, the University's department of chemistry and physics will host "Brown Bag" seminars each day at noon in Union's Coburn Dining Room. Union students will present chemistry research during the seminars, and a dutch treat lunch will be available in the University's cafeteria.

For more information about National Chemistry Week, call Charles Baldwin, chair of Union's department of chemistry and physics, at (901) 661-5247.
