TENNESSEE BAPTIST CONVENTION ELECTS EIGHT TO UNION UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES, APPOINTS BOARD OFFICERS

JACKSON, November 17-- The 121st annual session of the Tennessee Baptist Convention, which met Nov. 13-15 in Chattanooga, Tenn., appointed eight new members to Union University's board of trustees. The 50-member board acts as a governing body for the University, working with an administrative council to make decisions regarding Union's future and day-to-day operations.

Newly appointed board members include: Mack Forrester, a partner in the Forrester and White Insurance Agency of Ridgely; Polk Glover, an Obion planter; Shelby Massey, a Collierville businessman; Dr. James T. McAfee, Jr., president and CEO of Atlanta's ValueMark Healthcare; Dr. William Prine, a pediatrician with Clarksville's Children's Clinic; Gary Taylor, owner of Jackson's Gary A. Taylor Construction Company; Roy White, president of Memphis-based companies South Central Medical, Inc., and The Pharmacy Corporation; and Dr. Betty Whiteaker, a Dallas periodontist.

The board selected officers for the 1995-96 academic year, appointing Dr. John Drinnon, a Germantown pharmacist and realtor, chairman of the board of trustees. Dr. Gary Coltharp, pastor of Jackson's First Baptist Church will serve as vice chairman, and Floyd Flippin, an attorney with the Humboldt law offices of Adams, Ryal, and Flippin, will serve as secretary.
