Bob Alsobrook, vice president for institutional advancement, Jennifer and Jerome Teel (‘89), Ramona Mercer (‘52) and Mary Brumley (‘45) enjoyed the Jackson area alumni get together. Around seventy alumni came to the event which was hosted at the Teel home.

Kep (’49) and Jean Hicks Sorrell (’48) hosted an overnight outing to Pennyrile State Park in Kentucky last November. Each year since 1989, they have gotten together with friends they met at Union or at Southern Seminary, sharing memories of school days and occurrences of the years past. Address: 322 N. Peggy Caudle Vining (’50) has served on the board of Ozark Creative Writers, Inc. for 28 years and has served as President 12 years. She is a Freelance Writer, Award Winning Poet, and is Past Director of the Arkansas Writer’s Conference. Jerry Drace (’69) is President of the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists for the Southern Baptist Convention. The Jerry Drace Evangelistic Association recently celebrated its 25th anniversary of ministry. Dorsey Weddle Kendrick (’70) has been named President of Gateway Community Technical College in New Haven, Conn. She was formerly Executive Vice President at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Milwaukee, Wis.

George E. Norvell (’71) was recently named “Educator of the Year” by the Brownsville-Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. He has taught English at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tenn., for the past 29 years. George and his wife have one daughter, Melissa, a freshman at Union.
