●     Who We Are

Sigma Delta is an organization consisting of students who have a major or minor in the areas of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport.  Our members consists of students who plan to be teachers, coaches, athletic trainers, exercise specialists, sports media, and sports management personnel.

●     What We Do

Members of Sigma Delta are future professionals who desire to have a presence not only on the Union University campus but in the community as well.  Sigma Delta participates in activities such as the Carl Perkins Christmas Special, Wellness Week, Special Olympics, Homecoming, regional and state conventions in the field.

●     How To Join

All students who have a major or minor in the areas of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport are welcome to attend meetings and become involved.  If you are interested and do not receive any information through campus email, please contact Kelly Elliott or Steven Aldridge in the PEWS Department.

●     When We Meet

Sigma Delta meets regularly on the fourth Monday of each month in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium at 10:00 a.m.  Additional meetings are occasionally scheduled.

●     How To Become An Honor Society Member

Requirements to become a member of the Sigma Delta Honor Society include an overall grade point average of 2.75 and a grade point average of 3.25 in your major.  Induction takes place in the spring semester.  If you are interested in applying for membership in the honor society, please complete the application and turn into Kelly Elliott or Steven Aldridge by December 1st.

●     Internship/Job Opportunities

As you start thinking about possible internships, please think ahead. There are numerous possibilities in the Jackson area. Many more oppotunities in Memphis, Nashville and other parts of the country that would be great summer internships. However, you must plan ahead. Do not wait until the last minute to find a spot. We often receive requests for interns or full-time employment from numerous companies in the area and accross the country.  If you need help getting starting, do not hesitate to come see one of us.
