This Council provides a think tank for discussions of critical issues at Columbia. Teachers College is the oldest and largest graduate school of education in the U.S.

Dr. Melinda Krei to Serve on the President’s Advisory Council at Teachers College, Columbia University

Dr. Melinda KreiJanuary 14, 2015 - One of the School of Education’s finest faculty members, Dr. Melinda Krei, has accepted an invitation from her doctoral alma mater, Teachers College, Columbia University, to serve on the President’s Advisory Council. This Council provides a think tank for discussions of critical issues at Columbia. Teachers College is the oldest and largest graduate school of education in the U.S.

According to an undated document provided by President Fuhrman’s office at Teachers College, Columbia University, “The Advisory Council is composed of an invited group of national leaders in business, academic and civic life who are both knowledgeable and concerned about the future of education. They are either professionals in the field of education or have held major leadership positions as volunteers in academic initiatives or policy making." Furthermore, the document states that members serve as “ambassadors for the College, helping to promote the reputation of its programs, research, and role in education." The first meeting of this academic year focused on the development of academic programming in the field of education data-mining and learning analytics.

Dr. Melinda Krei primarily serves Union University’s School of Education students by teaching graduate level courses and chairing doctoral dissertations on an adjunct basis. She and her husband currently reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Melinda holds an undergraduate degree in History and Secondary Education from Union.
