Seth Reid

President

Seth Reid is the president of the Delta-Psi chapter. He was initiated into Phi Alpha Theta in February 2016. He is a senior history major with a minor in Biblical studies. In May 2016, he received the first-place award in the Dr. James Alex Baggett History Research Paper Competition. He was a paper presenter at both the Tennessee Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference and the Union University Scholarship Symposium in April 2017. Interested in politics, he has participated in the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature since his freshman year. He is also pursuing a discipline-specific honors program in history. As for historical interests, Reid is especially passionate about Scandinavia and pre-Colombian Central America. He and his wife live in Jackson, though he grew up in Valrico, Florida.
Katherine Cheshire

Vice President

Katherine Cheshire serves as the vice president of Delta-Psi. She is a public relations major and photojournalism minor. A resident of Gates, Tennessee, she joined Phi Alpha Theta in September 2016. Though Cheshire has spent much of her college career studying communications, she is an avid learner of history and enjoys focusing on Colonial America and the American Civil War. As a member of Phi Alpha Theta, she has participated in numerous Delta-Psi chapter activities. Cheshire also serves as the vice president of Union's chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, and she is a member of Alpha Chi, The Rutledge Honorary History Club, and Kappa Delta.
Jessica Barton

Secretary

Jessica Barton holds the post of secretary in the Delta-Psi chapter. She is from Mechanicsville, Virginia, and has a major in intercultural studies and a minor in French. Having spent several years in France growing up, Barton returned to that country in July 2017 to spend a month studying French at the Universit� Catholique de l'Ouest in Angers. Her favorite historical period is the French Revolution, although she has a deep interest in European history generally. She has participated in many Phi Alpha Theta activities at Union, including community service projects, dinners, and receptions. She serves as the vice president of the Rutledge Honorary History Club, vice president of Alliance Francophone, and president of Mu Kappa.
Dr. Stephen Carls

Faculty Advisor

Dr. Stephen Carls is in his 35th year as the faculty advisor to the Delta-psi chapter. He served as national president of Phi Alpha Theta from 2014 to 2016. He has coordinated Tennessee Phi Alpha Theta regional conferences three times - in 1991, 2003, and 2016. Under his leadership, the Delta-Psi chapter has won 15 straight Phi Alpha Theta Best Chapter Awards. He has attended all national Phi Alpha Theta biennial conventions since 2004, and has had student representation at all of those.
