Support the Genetic Counseling Project
The Genetic Counseling Project at Union is required to be financially self-sufficient, and we need funding to get started. We project that we need to raise approximately $360,000 in order for the project to begin.
This funding will cover salaries for a Program Director, who is required to be a Certified Genetic Counselor, and an Administrative Assistant, to begin before students (and student tuition) arrives. They will work on finalizing the curriculum, making the first steps toward Accreditation, continuing to work on sites for clinical placements, and establishing job placement opportunities. Your support will also help cover fees and travel involved with Accreditation, along with supporting materials to make all of that happen.
Your support will go towards the launch of a future master's program in genetic counseling. For more information about the project and the expected timeline, please contact Mark Bolyard.
We have online options for a gift or a pledge. You may fulfill your pledge at any time, but we will be requesting that all pledges be fulfilled once we reach our goal of $360,000.
Naming Opportunities
- For a gift/pledge of (giving amounts are still being determined), the Molecular Genetics lab can be named in your honor. This is the space where our molecular genetics laboratory will be taught, and where some students will carry out research.
- For a gift/pledge of (giving amounts are still being determined), each of the three faculty offices can be named.
- For a gift/pledge of $10,000 or more, named Academic Scholarships can be developed. This is going to be important as we work to keep the cost of the program affordable to these cutting edge students.
- For those who provide gifts/pledges of $2000 or more, names will be placed on a plaque located near the Genetic Counseling offices.
- Finally, we have opportunities for named Endowed Professorships for each of the three full time Academic Positions that will be part of our program (Program Director, Associate/Medical Director, and Molecular Geneticist). Each Endowed Professorship requires a gift of $2M.
