What is the Vocatio Center?

Our purpose is to help students understand more clearly who God has uniquely created them to be and to assist them in discovering opportunities to live out their calling in service to others.

Student Destinations After Graduation

Union University carefully monitors undergraduate career outcomes rates through the NACE First Destination Survey, which tracks student placement within the first 6 months after graduation. The institution’s goal for traditional undergraduates is a career outcomes rate of 97%. The institution’s goal for non-traditional undergraduates is a career outcomes rate of 92%.

On-Campus Employment

Interested in working on campus? Campus offices and departments are now hiring! Check out Handshake to view current openings and to apply. Over 300 students work on campus each year in roles ranging from food service to research and lab assistants to tutors and student ambassadors and more. Job openings are posted year round, and hiring timelines vary per department/office.

How to Apply

  • Complete your FAFSA each year
  • Create a résumé and upload it to Handshake
  • Search on-campus job postings and submit your résumé* to apply.

*some job postings may request additional items such as a cover letter, unofficial transcript, and/or writing samples.

Hiring Process

Each campus office/department will have different timelines for making hiring decisions. Some supervisors will conduct very formal interviews, while others may opt for more informal conversations. Regardless, always treat any interaction with a potential employer as an interview. The office/department will notify you if you’ve been selected for hire.

Timecards and Pay Periods

Students record their work hours on selfservice.uu.edu and are paid on a biweekly basis via Direct Deposit.

Employment Onboarding

If you’ve been selected for hire, you’ll receive an email from the Vocatio Center with instructions to complete some employment forms online as well as I-9 verification. I-9 verification is a short, in-person meeting where you are required to provide authentic document(s) for employment verification.

For international students with an F-1 visa, once you have been offered a job, your next step is to obtain a Social Security Number, and this must be done prior to starting work.

Once you have completed all of the on-boarding steps, you will receive an email confirmation clearing you to begin work.
