Student Traditions

Every year, Union comes alive with traditions built over generations: the energy of Welcome Week, the warmth of Family Weekend, the spirit of Homecoming, the spectacle of Variety Show, and the friendly rivalry of Greek Olympics. These are the moments that make Union feel like home.

Three people stand on grass outdoors. The two on the sides hold large trophies and wear athletic clothes; the person in the center wears a red shirt and whistle. All three are smiling, with trees and equipment in the background.
A group of young women outdoors hold welcome signs and raise their arms, smiling. Some wear pink and white outfits with Greek letters. Signs include messages like “Welcome Home Rachel” and “Welcome Home Rene.”.

Greek Life

Union is one of a small number of universities that has found a way to maintain a thriving Greek system within an unashamedly Christ-centered education. Six national fraternities and sororities call Union home, each committed to developing men and women of Christian character.

A person in a red shirt and black shorts is serving a volleyball outdoors, with one arm raised and the ball in mid-air. A building and trees are visible in the background at dusk.

Intramurals

Union’s intramural program is open to everyone, no tryouts required. Flag football, sand volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee and more bring students together for friendly competition throughout the year.

Two young women walk and talk on a sunny campus path, one carrying a backpack and the other holding a drink and snack. Trees and brick walls line the walkway, with more people in the background.

Leadership & Engagement Programs

Every student at Union has a voice and a vote in the Student Government Association, and opportunities to grow as a leader don’t stop there. From Freshman Council to Life Group leadership to student-led discipleship, Union equips students to lead with faith and integrity, on campus and beyond.
