Student Discipleship & Engagement

The aim of the Office of Student Discipleship and Engagement is to meet students where they are by providing a grace-infused student experience that fosters Christ-centered formation.

Mobilization

We seek to train and equip students to take the next steps toward a life that connects with God's global purpose. There are opportunities to connect with God's Word, world, and work through Global Focus events, GO Trips, and leadership development.

Student Activities Council

Believing that college is more than just the classroom experience, the Student Activities Council seeks to promote campus unity and improve the quality of student life by providing entertaining activities and various opportunities for campus involvement.

The Student Activities Council is an organization comprised of 30-36 students. We are a diverse group of students with a variety of majors. As a member, you will participate in weekly meetings, serve on event planning committees, and grow in a community that cares deeply about you. Council members work together to plan events for the student body from start to finish. If you enjoy event planning, want to develop your student leadership skills, and are interested in serving Union’s student body, we would love to have you apply!

Student Government Association

The Student Government Association is the main point at which student leadership and learning converge at Union University. Maintained by a unicameral legislative Senate and led by Student Body and Class Executives, the SGA serves the university by supporting legislation that improves existing policies and sponsoring initiatives that enhance school identity.

Every student at Union University has a voice and a vote in the Student Government Association. Most will exercise these rights in electing Executive Officers to represent their class and the student body. Students also have the opportunity to participate as a voting member of the Student Senate. The Student Government Association is responsible for appointing students to standing faculty committees on campus each year. Provided a student meets certain criteria, he or she may also campaign for an executive position.

The Student Government Association, its officers and members are governed by the Student Government Association Constitution and Bylaws. Questions about these documents can be referred to any of the Executive Officers or Joe Ball, SGA Advisor.

Student Clubs and Organizations

Union University hosts over ninety active student organizations for students who are interested in almost any field of study or activity. From biologists to actors to those who want to work with elementary school students in Jackson, there is a place for every student who wants to be involved outside of the classroom. In fact, the typical undergrad chooses to be involved in several of these groups during his or her time at Union.
