Sigma Delta
Sigma Delta evolved from Union’s Physical Education Club and was officially chartered in the Fall of 1987. Founded at Morehead State University, Sigma Delta seeks to recognize and provide valuable learning experiences for deserving students who are majoring or minoring in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.

- Who We Are
Sigma Delta is an organization consisting of students who have a major or minor in the areas of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport. Our members consists of students who plan to be teachers, coaches, athletic trainers, exercise specialists, sports marketing professionals, sports management professionals, and many other physical education, wellness and sport professionals. - What We Do
Members of Sigma Delta are future professionals who desire to have a presence not only on the Union University campus but in the community as well. Sigma Delta participates in activities such as the Carl Perkins Christmas Special, Special Olympics, Homecoming, Nissan Stadium Events, regional and state conventions in the field. - How To Join
All students who have a major or minor in the areas of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport are welcome to attend meetings and become involved. If you are interested and do not receive any information through campus email, please contact one of the sponsors at the contact info listed below. - When We Meet
Sigma Delta meets twice a semester on the second Monday of the month in PAC A-11 at 10:00 a.m. Additional meetings are occasionally scheduled. - How To Become An Honor Society Member - Online Application Form
Requirements to become a member of the Sigma Delta Honor Society include an overall grade point average of 2.5 and a grade point average of 3.0 in your major and consistently participate in Sigma Delta meetings and events. Induction takes place in the spring semester. If you are interested in applying for membership in the honor society, please complete the application form by December 1st. It will be submitted to the sponsors.
In addition to completing the online application, and maintaining an overall GPA of 2.5 and a GPA of 3.0 in your PEWS major, you must attend 2 meetings, complete 1 community service project, and attend 10 UU Athletic events through the year. If you meet these requirements by the end of the April then you will be initiated as an official Sigma Delta Member at our banquet in May.

Internships/Job Opportunities
As you start thinking about possible internships, please think ahead. There are numerous possibilities in the Jackson area. Many more opportunities in Memphis, Nashville and other parts of the country that would be great summer internships. However, you must plan ahead. Do not wait until the last minute to find a spot. We often receive requests for interns or full-time employment from numerous companies in the area and across the country. If you need help getting starting, do not hesitate to come see one of us.
